Swansea Railway Modellers Open Day
Selwyn has a fan, watching the shunting on the (new to him) DCC layout developed by Hal Reikert. Selwyn's layout and Phil's shunting plank attracted lots of interest from visitors of all ages.
Coal Bunkers
These are MDF kits from ebay and are useful corner fillers on most sites that have the usual open coal wagons. These are of local interest...
A member near the coast enjoys his SM32 outdoor layout, proving the sun shines in West Wales...

Bill's valve gear
"Attached picture of Walschaerts gear progress on the Flying Pig. The drawings are more of a wish list than anything, and I am afraid the more I have to remake or bodge bits the rougher the workmanship. Still I am hopeful the thing might eventually go".
Bill Roebuck's live steam Garden Railway in action
The loco is a Rob Roy, completed late last summer. Once the initial stiffness eased the engine ran very well.
The Caledonian Railway 498 Class was a class of 0-6-0 tank locomotives built for dock shunting. They were designed by John F. McIntosh for the Caledonian Railway (CR) and introduced in 1911. Twenty-three were built. They passed to the London, Midland and Scottish Railway (LMS) in 1923 and to British Railways (BR) in 1948. The 498 Class was the prototype for the popular 3.5" gauge live steam locomotive design 'Rob Roy' by the late Martin Evans.
Fruit Wagon
A newly completed BR 'standard' Fruit Van. Not much standard about them as they were built in various batches with detail differences. This is a Slaters kit that was a joy to assemble, and nicely detailed.

Bill's bogies
Bill Roebuck is currently working on an Easybuild Wayoh kit of LMS standard bogies to eventually go under an LMS 42' Bogie van, a Westdale kit. "Very impressed with the bogies. They went together very easily and are free-running"
