The Bear Lake and Juniper N gauge

Bill Roebuck's N Gauge Layout

The Bear Lake and Juniper is a US shortline based somewhere in the mid-west.  It is a folded oval on a board 3 ' 6" X 2', analogue DC.  With steep gradients and tight curves train lengths are short and well withing the capacity of the second-hand diesels the line uses. Main traffic is coal from the mine at Coal Creek, or the breaker at Bear Lake, with incoming oil products and general merchandise.  Points are mainly servo-operated, with a few colour light signals to avoid traffic chaos.  The daily Budd railcar fulfils the US postal contract, together with the few tourists who seem prone to getting eaten by bears down at the lake . . .

Operation is usually on the dining room table (suitably protected) and takes but a few minutes to set up.
